Local Land Charges

Please note that our current turnaround time has increased to 10 working days due to staffing issues.

The Local Land Charges team is part of Development Management. It is staffed by two full time officers who, supported by the wider Development Management Administration Team, ensure that the electronic Local Land Charges Register is kept up-to-date and respond to official and personal search enquiries.

As with the majority of registers kept by the Council,  the statutory Local Land Charges Register, is computerised and cannot be directly searched by the general public.

The Planning Services Privacy Notice can be read here.

New Forest District Council Privacy Notice can be read here.

The team processes official searches comprising the Land Charges Register (form LLC1) and Enquiries of the Local Authority (form CON 29):

  • The LLC1 official certificate form records various restrictions on land including Tree Preservation Orders, Enforcement Notices and Listed Buildings.
  • The CON 29 answers various questions about the property including: full planning history; adopted highways and traffic schemes; building regulation applications; environmental health notices and local plan policies.

The team also carries out personal searches of the Local Land Charges Register and answers any additional questions asked on environmental information the Council holds.
